The middle of this book was very very good. The beginning was very high school or maybe even middle school which im not necessarily detracting for since that was the intended audience but the ending was a real let down. I think i could see how she would appeal to younger readers but i found her a tad obnoxious. She hates hero, she loves hero and no one else can have him, she doesn’t believe in vampires, shes a vampire princess and has all the haughtiness of one. The author made it difficult for me to like her.
The wishy washy feelings i could chalk up teenage absurdity, but her utter disregard for everything and everyone around her once she decided she loved the hero was outright obnoxious. Risking your horse’s life numerous times, abandoning your best friend because shes worried about you? Lost me a little there, actually alot. Much like the book itself the middle is his shining moment. In the beginning he’s haughty and condescending.

Apr 13, · Jessica’s Guide to Dating on the Dark Side by Beth Fantaskey Jessica Packwood is a normal American teen growing up in the countryside of Pennsylvania. Or so she thinks, because Jess originally came from Romania, given to her adoptive parents by her own parents when they were about to be killed by torch-wielding peasants.
It is rare one comes across a gem in a used bookstore in like new condition. Origionally purchased for a swap, I took a peek at the first chapter to see if it was worth reading. What I got when I opened the book was a tender love story, laced with humor and danger, and got sucked into a storey that was un-put-down-able. Fans of Twilight are sure to eat this story up in a heartbeat. The only thing wrong with this book was that it ended. Jessica is just your average teen, living her average life Her world is turned upside down with the arrival of Lucious Vladescu, a tall dark handsome boy from Romania who claimes to be a vampire prince.
If THAT wasnt wierd enough, Lucious tries to court Jessica, explaining that she is his rival clans’ decendant princess, and they are destined to marry in order to bring peace to the 2 clans. Jessica is extremely reluctant to this idea, and after a series of crazy events, she realises her love for him Lucious has a new girlfriend and he decides to dishonor the pact. Jessica finally decides to fight for what she wants in order to save Lucious, herself, and her clan.
What a wonderful story. The characters felt so real and the words flowed off the pages effortlessly. Im xcited to read about the wedding on the authors website, and look forward to the next installment when Jessica Rules the Darkside

After being promoted to the position of senior partner at Pearson Hardman , he hired Mike Ross , a veritable genius who was able to pass the bar exam despite not attending law school, as his associate. Not wanting to hurt his father’s feelings, Harvey did not tell him about it and watched his mother’s indiscretions in silence for the next two years. Eventually, she left them. Harvey had realized that an associate backdated a postage when he missed a filing, so he came into Jessica’s office and told her that if the firm did not declare misconduct, he would report them to the D.
Impressed, Jessica soon paid for Harvey to go to Harvard Law, where he “jerked off the entire time [he was] there”.

I might have found an apartment! Dude, how awesome is today? For those who watch Heroes – how awesome was last night’s show? I feel like it’s getting back on track. And Sylar’s new sidekick is uber-creepy. To think I worried he would get hurt when he first showed up onscreen.

The undead can really screw up your senior year Marrying a vampire definitely doesn’t fit into Jessica Packwood’s senior year “get-a-life” plan. But then a bizarre (and incredibly hot) new exchange student named Lucius Vladescu shows up, claiming that Jessica is a Romanian vampire princess by.
Many believe love is a sensation that magically generates when Mr. No wonder so many people are single. A few years ago, I spoke to a group of high-schoolers about the Jewish idea of love. I’ll define it, and you raise your hands if you agree. Love is that feeling you get when you meet the right person. And I thought, Oy. This is how many people approach a relationship.

Jessica’s guide to dating on the dark side (Book) Average Rating. 5 star.
Antanasia Dragomir, renamed Jessica Packwood by her adopted parents, is a down-to-earth farm girl with a talent for mathematics and a resolute disdain for all things supernatural. The last thing she wanted was to find out that her birth parents were vampires, and that her vampire betrothed has come to claim her.
Lucius Vladescu is handsome, arrogant, and determined to make her accept her heritage and marry him – or risk reigniting the feud which has been going on between their clans for generations. This book provides examples of: All Girls Want Bad Boys: Jessica is decidedly put off by Lucius’ bad-boy qualities, even as she finds them attractive. She doesn’t really fall in love with him until he’s proved that he can be kind and considerate as well as sexy and dangerous. Break His Heart to Save Him: Lucius tries to pull this on Jessica.
She isn’t having any. Jessica is quite Happily Adopted at first, preferring to not even think about her birth parents whom, from the Packwoods’ cautiously edited descriptions, she believes to be deviant cult members. Once she starts to believe in vampires, however, the trope plays out somewhat straight. He planned to have Jessica killed soon after the marriage, so he could rule both clans via Lucius.
REVIEW: Jessica Rules the Dark Side by Beth Fantaskey
Hardcover Jessica has always known she is adopted. Her parents, the Packwoods, have told her the story of how they, as anthropologists, were studying her family in Romania when they were attacked. Jessica’s birth parents begged the Packwoods to take their daughter to safety. Eventually, Jessica’s birth parents and many others of her family are killed and the Packwoods return to the United States with a new baby.
Jessica hates the story.

The Twilight series is primarily narrated from Bella’s point of view. In Twilight, Bella moves to her father’s home in Forks, Washington , meets the mysterious Cullen family, and falls in love with Edward Cullen. However, she soon discovers that the family is a coven of vampires. Bella expresses a desire to become a vampire herself, against Edward’s wishes. In the second novel, New Moon, Edward and the other Cullens leave Forks in an effort to keep Bella safe from the vampire world. Jacob Black , a member of the Quileute tribe who is also a shape shifter taking a wolf form, comforts the distraught and severely depressed Bella.
She comes to care for Jacob, though less than she loves Edward. Edward then transforms Bella into a vampire after she nearly dies giving birth to their daughter, Renesmee. Bella has the ability to shield her mind from mind reading, attacks, etc.
Jessica’s Guide to Dating on the Dark Side
The sardonic, haughty and hilarious vampire, Lucius Vladescu really makes this book stand-out. Because of their noble bloodlines and a tremendous financial inheritance, Lucius and Jessica have been promised in marriage unbeknownst to Jessica since birth. Since Jessica’s been raised as an all-American girl, naturally she finds the idea of an arranged marriage very distasteful. To try and change her mind, Lucius registers as an exchange student at her school and takes up residence in her parent’s barn.
As the story unfolds we begin to see another side of Lucius.
Feb 07, · a’s guide to dating on the dark side Los No-muertos realmente pueden fastidiar tu último año de secundaria Casarse con un vampiro definitivamente no se ajusta a los planes de Jessica Packwood para “buscarse una vida” al terminar el instituto.
Enjoyed this vampire romance. Jessica’s teen emotions were more realistic than Bella’s. Dec 21, When she gets to school, he’s there in her English Lit class, an exchange student from Romania called Lucius Veldescu, domineering the teacher and, again, watching her. It’s when he turns up for dinner at her parents farm that things get really freaky – especially when he claims he’s a vampire prince and she’s a vampire princess and his betrothed, that they must marry to fulfil the pact so that war doesn’t break out between their clans Determined to think Lucius is crazy as well as charming, arrogant, attractive and, yes, dangerous, Jessica refuses to let him have his way even if he does seem to have her parents on his side.
Until he’s nearly killed by a horse and then starts dating cheerleeder-blonde-bitch extraordinaire, Faith Crosse, Jessica thought she could get rid of him and be happy settling for “nice” and simple Jake; now the pact is being threatened by Lucius himself, who no longer seems to want her, just as she discovers how much she wants to be a part of his world. It’s a fairly obvious thing to point out that this book is aimed at all the teen Twilight fans out there.
Let’s cover this so we can move past it. Fact is, when we like something we always want more of it.

In lieu of an abstract, here is a brief excerpt of the content: Jessica’s Guide to Dating on the Dark Side. Lucius is a vampire, and he announces that Jessica is as well, that she belongs back in Romania where she is a princess, and that she is his betrothed, so pledged in order to unite the two warring families from which they come.
Even after her adoptive parents confirm Lucius’ story, Jessica’s rational brain resists the evidence Lucius’ fangs, incredible healing abilities, and other characteristics all [End Page ] point to veracity for as long as possible, until she finally acknowledges her own destiny—but has she lost Lucius to the charms of modern-day teen life in the interim?
Jessica evolves nicely with each new shocking revelation, becoming, over the course of the novel, an intriguing and strong protagonist. Lucius, on the other hand, will be magnetic to readers from the first mention, and his letters back to his imposing Romanian guardians demonstrate in a nuanced, unforced way his slow transition from snarky but obedient lackey to troubled but defiant resister once he sees alternatives to the course he’d once viewed as inevitable.
Horror fans may find this a little light on the blood until the creepy vampire uncles hit town late in the book, but romance buffs will find the ultimate pairing of Lucius and Jessica absolutely irresistible, and it’s downright swoon worthy once their elaborate courting ritual begins in earnest.
